What is the purpose of the blessing?
Dew of the Gods believe in the power of positive affirmation on water, matter, and ourselves. The basis of the idea of having the products blessed stems from the research of the famous Japanese scientist, Dr. Masaru Emoto, who studied the effects of prayer and positive thoughts on water at the molecular level.
Dr. Emoto's experiment (in a nutshell!) profiled the molecular structure of water crystals before and after a blessing by a zen Buddhist monk. First, he placed various words with different energies on labels and affixed them to ordinary water from the Fujiwara Dam in Japan. Some bottles had labels that read positive affirmations like "love", "peace", and the Chinese symbol for the Chi of Love. Other labels read negative affirmations like "hate", "death" and "sadness".
He then froze the water so that ice crystals would form, revealing the true shape of the water at the molecular level. The water crystals that received negative affirmations had very little structure to them when placed under a microscope, but the ones that received positive affirmations crystallized into beautiful, ornate structures that resembled the complexity and beauty of a snowflake.
The most powerful transformations of the water were the samples that were blessed by a Buddhist monk. The philosophy of Buddhism is all about positivity, manifestation, happiness, and being kind (among many other meaningful mantras), and the water responded.
The theory behind this research is -- if our thoughts can do this to water... imagine what our thoughts can do to us? We as humans are 90% water. Think about it!
For more information on Dr. Emoto and his research, check out his book "The Miracle of Water".
The blessing will mean different things to different people.
To some, the hope is that it truly inspires their ability to mindfully connect with themselves on a deeper level -- where each time you pop on the FujiFiji mask or use the Frozé Body Scrub, you are truly reminded of the intentions within each of these products' blessings.
To others, it may be more of a fleeting thought within their skincare regimen and everyday life. Either way, the hope is that the message behind each blessing resonates with you on some level.
How often are the blessing performed?
Each time there is a new shipment of inventory, or each time there is the launch a new product, a blessing will be scheduled to take place at Dew HQ.
Who is the Buddhist monk who blesses the product?
Bhante Saranapala, known around the world (and on Instagram!) as The Urban Buddhist Monk (@urban_buddhist_monk). Bhante is a fully ordained monk and has been practicing and teaching the ways of the Buddha since he was seven years old. Through his foundations, Kindful Canada and Kindful USA, Bhante travels the world to places like Bangladesh to spread positivity, help underprivileged children, and to teach the world about the power of Buddhism, blessings, and positive thought.
